Leading transformation in schools: Networking 2

As we continue to learn together through the Schoolwide IB network, our second virtual networking session will focus on what effective transformation looks like in practice. The conversation will explore how sustained change becomes possible when leadership actively models equity, agency, and shared purpose—and when schools design the conditions for collaboration that remove barriers to learning for every student.

In this session, we’ll consider how leadership teams cultivate cultures of teamwork and trust that enable communities to move from intention to implementation. Drawing on insights from the first change-management resource, we’ll move deeper into the how—modeling ways leaders might form or guide committees that align inclusive pedagogical practices with IB programme frameworks. Together, we’ll look at practical approaches to integrating what the school community already understands about inclusion into purposeful design decisions across teaching and learning.

What to expect

Networking Session 2 will feature:

  • Core content and resources to guide the conversation

  • An open-forum discussion inviting schools to reflect on leadership, inclusion, and sustainable change

We’ve learned from our first session that smaller breakout rooms weren’t the most effective approach—especially given the global nature of our community and the importance of language accessibility. This time, we’ll hold a single, unified session with live captions available for all participants to follow along comfortably. We also want to ensure that the needs of partnering schools are at the center of these Networking Sessions and to make the full hour a resource people can watch on demand.

To establish a relevant and impactful dialogue, we are seeking volunteers who are willing to join the session with cameras on and actively participate in the open-discussion portion. A discussion prompt will be shared in advance (and added to this post in the coming weeks) to help participants prepare and contribute meaningfully. We hope that more people will join the discussion as we move through the session.

New: Schoolwide IB Office Hours

We’re also excited to announce a new opportunity for connection—Schoolwide IB Office Hours, hosted by Chad Lower. These informal sessions will give schools the chance to share experiences, ask questions, and support one another as they explore, plan, and prepare to implement their Schoolwide IB vision.

The first session will take place in early December. More to come.

We hope you’ll join us as we continue to learn, design, and lead transformation—together.

Session resources will be published soon.
