Leading transformation in IB World Schools
5PM-6PM EASTERN - Virtual (ZOOM)
Overview
Effective transformation in IB World Schools begins with leadership that models equity, agency and shared purpose. In this session—Leading Transformation in Schools—we activate the mindsets and frameworks that empower school leaders to dismantle barriers, cultivate inclusive cultures, and guide their communities through sustainable change. Drawing from the IB's education design principles, participants will consider what stakeholder value and how this informs the roles they play., collaborate on real‐world case studies, and co‑design a leadership plan tailored to their context.
Our session will offer participants an opportunity to hear from the experiences of schools broadening participation in the DP and CP through the Schoolwide IB initiative, currently in it's final pilot year.
As we get closer to the event, participants will have access to a resource toolkit they can explore in preparation for the session.
Session Description
We will:
Evaluate current practices
Using the Committee Agenda template, audit existing equity initiatives, pinpoint gaps, and set clear, school‑specific goalsExplore your leadership journey
Leverage sample agendas and time‑management strategies to structure teacher‑focused learning experiences that align with your equity goalsInvestigate one aspect of IB design
Examine the five pillars—philosophy & culture, preparation & outreach, leadership & administration, learning & teaching, and professional development—to identify levers for removing participation barriersArticulate next steps for advancing community learning
Through small‑group dialogue, share points of discord and confidence, then translate insights into concrete actions for your school
Our hope is that by the end of this session, each participant will have tools they can leverage with their school leadership team to co‑create a draft Transformation Roadmap to guide their school’s next phase of values‑driven IB implementation.
