Building strong foundations for community-led change
3PM-4PM EASTERN - Virtual (Zoom)

Overview
Transforming an IB World School is as much about cultivating shared purpose as it is about implementing new tools. In this session, we’ll ground our work in the complexity of change—examining why reform often stalls and identifying the “non‑obvious” leverage points that unlock progress. Drawing on IB case studies and the Promise of Better Schools research, participants will learn to build bridges between educators, families, and stakeholders; align goals; through a coaching exercise that uses AI to generate contextually relevant possibilities.
Session Description
We will:
Explore the nature and complexity of change
Unpack key insights from The Promise of Better Schools and IB case examples to understand why external mandates alone rarely stickSurface non‑obvious leverage points
Through small‑group dialogue, uncover hidden opportunities in your context and translate them into concrete prioritiesEngage with key change models
Get a practical overview of Lewin’s Three‑Step, Kotter’s Eight‑Step, CBAM, and Fullan’s Framework to inform your planning and evaluationAlign on shared norms and language
Discuss how common purposes, methods, and IB’s Approaches to Learning can sustain cohesion, capacity building, and continuous improvement
Our hope is that by the end of the session, each school team will draft an initial change‑foundation roadmap—complete with stakeholder maps, leverage strategies, and a chosen change‑model focus—to kick‑start their Schoolwide IB journey.
