Host of the Education by Design Podcast
Phil Evans
Phil Evans is a creative with the International Baccalaureate (IB), a global non-profit organization. He launched his first podcast in 2025 to explore new ways to communicate values aligned to leading education systems in the world that function to educate the whole person, nurture curiosity, and create optimal learning environments for a wide range of learners. Phil moved from his home in Australia, to pursue teaching in the United States in 2008 and now resides in Washington D.C.
In his creative role at the IB he learns alongside schools to design and scale new services, resources, and support needed to advance the IB’s mission and high-quality educational model, for as many students as possible. Phil's greatest hope is "to be proactive in bringing the community together to learn from each other, and for the IB to have a greater impact for more students in schools by addressing inequity and including all students because everyone should have access to high-quality education, and it is through our collaborative innovation and transformative work, that is made possible.” Education by Design describes systems that work to advance agency and a love for learning.
Unapologetically, Phil presents practical, useful, and relevant educational tools that are inspired by his work with the International Baccalaureate. And he asks that people suspend expectations and perceptions of what they might think the IB is, and who it is for. Because the reality is, the IB simply creates an education model and age appropriate learning focused frameworks that work outside of politics and agendas. Instead, they are grounded in high-quality practices that are the bedrock of leading education systems around the world. Phil hopes that the resourceful conversations with educators and leaders and a wide range of people who consider themselves to be lifelong learners will inspire you, as they do, him. He simply wants Education by Design to be a resource, for anyone.
