Breakout group discussion
Each breakout room should begin their group discussion with selecting the change challenges that resonate as a top priority. You may discuss more than one change challenge, but you should be sure to also discuss the contributing factors and how the community will lead change. Guiding questions are provided. Please nominate a scribe to document in the padlet (linked above). Please nominate one or two representatives to share with the whole group. Have fun!

What is the current state of this change challenge in your school, and why do things need to change?
What will be the benefit of the change you hope to influence?
Are there any known obstacles or factors that inhibit this change?
THE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS
What other operational, organizational, cultural, or behavioral factors impact this change challenge?
Of the contributing factors, which are most connected to the obstacles or factors that inhibit change?
Are there other factors that make change difficult? Are there ways to navigate them? (Hidden factors)
HOW WILL THE COMMUNITY LEAD CHANGE?
Does the whole community understand the change? If not, what might you do to engage the community in this exploration?
Is this first order or second order change?

Xin Wang and Tamia Penn – RMC Research Corporation
Researchers from RMC Research Corporation conducted a mixed-methods study to examine the pilot implementation of International Baccalaureate (IB) schoolwide adoption of language A coursework in the Diploma Programme (DP) or Career-related Programme (CP). Heads and coordinators from 54 of the 67 participating schools responded to surveys, exploring perceptions of the initiative, factors that facilitated its implementation, and barriers to schoolwide adoption.
