The 2021 pilot shows impact on student participation in the DP and CP - Wed Feb 28, 2024
The IB Assessment registration process is now complete for the May 2024 session and there is a 4,000 increase in student registrations. Nearly half of these new students come from the 35 schools who participated in the 2021-2022 pilot. We are learning that lots of schools have considered what we are currently calling the IB Schoolwide Adoption strategy for a number of years. For some schools, even knowing that others were investing in the work, has been enough encouragement to take action in their own schools.
It is the community momentum that is supported and sustained by local associations and networks that when working in collaboration with the organization, our shared insights and capacity to facilitate networking and solutions can help high schools transform from schools with IB programmes, into IB World Schools. Thank you to all who have been working tirelessly to advance the high-quality education the IB offers, to as many students as possible. The IB’s recent investment in this work is attributed to your work and the work of incredible educators, over a series of decades.
Early insights from project partner schools
Communicating the project to schools in your network
Each year from now until June 2027, the IB will welcome any school in the United States and Canada to partner in the IB Schoolwide Adoption project, with all of the provisions currently offered. Where feasible, Mark and Phil would appreciate support to inform communities through engaging school leaders and DP and CP coordinators. This resource has been developed to guide stakeholders through the why, what, and how of the project. Please reach out to Phil and Mark at any time, for support.

Roundtable series pilot
The IB is exploring new ways to support associations in relation to significant project, like IB Schoolwide Adoption. Working in partnership with lead educators in local contexts, two exciting new resource toolkits are currently in development. One focuses on aligning the whole school to the value of an IB education through Approaches to Teaching. The second is a four part series to guide teachers through a learning journey that prepares them to implement DP language and literature. The learning design aims to create a flexible resource toolkit that schools, districts systems & groups, and associations can use and adapt. We plan to launch these at the IB Global Conference in July 2024, Washington D.C. Below is a preview of the material toolkits, currently in development.
